Supported Atheros cards work wonderfully, with good free drivers. The scripts described in chapter Brightness / backlight provide some basic brightness control. I noticed rc4 was released, so I downloaded and installed that and sound works! (wifi is still busted and I got some form of dkms apport "kernel is not supported" error http://hamlookup.com/hp-spectre/hp-spectre-13-specs.html Issues Issues for which no resolution could be found: Wifi is working.
