HP Envy Audio - Compression With One Driver

now, with the basic driver installed, NOT the Beats driver, the subwoofer does not work at all and the output from the top speakers is very tinny. it did fix the issue, but only through the headphones. If there hasn't been an official fix yet, then I urge you to make one as soon as posible, as sound quality was a major motivation for buying this laptop! Consequently I do not have a trained ear, as you most definitely do. I hate the beatsaudio and windows 8.1 with a passion... Thank you so much for this, your advice has helped me through 2 computers with the same issue. The first part disables the Realtek driver - the second deletes it permanently.

Very good solution. Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom to say “Thanks” windows then will install the standard driver automatically (which is not the native IDT one) and with this driver the issue is solved. It's simple and takes 2-3 minutes.

  1. I was blinded by the great specs of that laptop but I would never thought beatsaudio was so bad.
  2. One minute the speakers are fine, the next minute there is a frequent popping or crackling sound coming every 20 seconds or so, even while using headphones.

It also lacks the Stereo Mix recording option, which can be a big issue for some users. MAKE SURE YOU WANT TO PERMANENTLY GET RID OF B&O BEFORE UNINSTALLING. Not sure if he manually reinstalled it or if it just did itself, but the problem was cured... Additional batteries are affected.

Let me know if it helps. I too would like to get rid of the compressor type sound that affects my laptop. I completely uninstalled and re-installed my sound drivers and that didn't fix it and windows troubleshooter can't find the driver either.

I find it incredible that a software app that supposedly claims a superior listening experience would overlook the ability to turn off such an annoying (and in-your-face) feature!!?? Beats Audio system with equalizer is back, and able to set up sound very nicely.Thank you.Considering the ubiquiy of this issue, wish HP would post a permanent web page entitled something beatsaudio is the worst gimmick ever...Impossible to disable the beatsaudio effects (bass, treble, surround and focus sliders) but on top, I also have the compression / volume leveler issue that sound No need to restart. The colution is partially from here:http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/675228-fix-workaround-beats-audio-volume-problem-levelin...Hope that helps!Good luck!
